Use of a Circular Polarizing Filter (CPL) in Photography
A Circular Polarizing Filter or CPL is definitely a must for a serious car photographer. Use it to remove any unnecessary reflections on the paint, and on the glass.
For the sake of example, you wouldn’t have been able to see the interior of the BRE Cruze Touring Car if not for a polarizing filter.
I also use this a lot when shooting cars where you want to get rid of reflections of other cars parked within the vicinity from the paint of your subject. Unfortulately, I haven’t been able to take any comparison shots to show what it’s like without the filter.
Moving on, you can also use this for landscape or nature shots. Use it to turn the sky bluer or any foliage greener. Also to remove reflections from water.
Here’s an example. You can clearly see the rocks under the water. No reflections.
These shots are unedited by the way. No PP at all. Just the polarizing filter at work. Hope this helps!!!
